Katy Perry had a bit of fun as she playfully stuck out her tongue with KISS legend, Gene Simmons, on set of American Idol on Sunday.

The Fireworks songstress, 39 – who recently flaunted her cheeky ensemble while attending Coachella – posed with the rock singer during Sunday’s episode where contestants performed songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.

During the special night, the official names for the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were also announced, including Mary J. Blige, Cher and Dave Matthews Band.

Perry was seen excitedly posing with Simmons, 74 – who was a guest mentor – as they paused for a series of pictures in front of a light blue backdrop.

The mother-of-one was dazzling in a figure-hugging, turquoise dress that was made of a shimmering material. A matching shawl was draped down around her elbows for an elegant flare.

Her dark locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down past her shoulders in light waves.

Katy’s makeup was glammed up for the night, and comprised of a layer of mascara to her lashes as well as a smoky shadow around her eyes.

A light blush was added to her cheekbones, while a ɴuᴅᴇ-colored satin tint was worn on her lips for a finishing touch.

She opted for minimal accessories to allow the outfit to be the main focal point, and wore a pair of flashy, silver earrings.

Gene – who is known for being the co-lead singer and bᴀssist for rock band KISS – was dressed to impress in a classic black suit as well as a white shirt that was partially unfastened around the collar.

A handkerchief was placed in the left pocket of the suit jacket while the performer also sported a pair of stylish, brown shades.

Both Perry and Simmons struck a variety of poses for the camera, and also stuck their tongues out while facing each other.

Gene is known for the signature action while performing on stage with KISS over the years.

Nearly 10 years earlier, Katy and Gene were seen striking a similar pose as they crossed paths at the 2015 Starkey Hearing Foundation So The World May Hear Gala in Minnesota.

The pair could be seen sticking their tongues out on the red carpet as the Dark Horse hitmaker took a selfie of the moment with her phone.

Also during Sunday’s episode of American Idol, the inductees for the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced by host, Ryan Seacrest, and judge Lionel Richie.

The names that were revealed for the Performers Category include: Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest.

The category honors, ‘artists who have created music whose originality, impact, and influence has changed the course of rock & roll,’ according to an official release, per Entertainment Weekly. 

The recipients for the Musical Excellence Award will go to Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick and Norman Whitfield.

Also on Sunday, Katy took to her main Instagram page to share a humorous video while filming American Idol.

She could be seen sitting near the stage while surrounded by the live audience in the background.

Her song, California Gurls, could be heard playing in the background as the crowd happily sang along to the lyrics.

A voice from behind the camera asked the singer, ‘Do you know this song?’ and Perry pretended to listen in.

After a few seconds, she leaned forward and then asked, ‘It’s by that really annoying girl right?’ In the caption of the short reel, Katy jokingly penned, ‘annoying #idol.’

American Idol is currently airing its 22nd season, however, Perry will be exiting the series after being a judge for seven seasons.

‘I am always emotional on finale, but gosh when this finale comes, I better just tape the false lashes to my face,’ she recently told Entertainment Tonight.

In regards to the decision to not return to the compeтιтion show, she explained, ‘I’m just trying to make space for other things.’

‘It’s not like me ending this show means I’m going to go retire on an island, even though that would be fabulous. I’m gonna go to work.’

Earlier this month at the 10th Annual Breakthrough Prize Event in Los Angeles, Perry appeared to tease her upcoming sixth album on the red carpet.
